Description: The paleo diet mimics the diet of our ancient ancestors who lived during the Paleolithic era, before the advent of agriculture and processed foods. It consists mainly of meat, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables and excludes grains, legumes, dairy, sugar, and salt. It is based on the idea that humans are genetically adapted to eat what their ancestors ate and that modern foods can cause chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Some benefits of the paleo diet are improved weight loss, blood sugar control, inflammation reduction, and gut health.
